Here are some ways to make sure your little friend is staying hydrated, keeping cool, and not burning their sweet paws.
Water Fountains/Bowls
Always make sure they have access to clean, filtered water to drink .
Sometimes I’m surprised with just how much more water Honey drinks in the summer—I have to remember to check and replenish her water more than I’m used to.
They have lots of dog water fountains that will also help to make sure their bowls always stay filled with clean water.

Bone Broth/Goat Milk
Honey has been loving Brutus Broth’s goat milk!
I started adding Brutus Bone Broth and Goat Milk to her meals, and it’s become one of those simple little things that makes me feel good about what I’m serving.
She gets so excited when I pour it over her food, and it’s an easy way to add extra flavor and moisture, especially on days when she’s being a little picky about eating.
I like that both the bone broth and goat milk are easy to use. I can pour them right over kibble, mix them into meals, or even freeze them into treats when it’s hot outside.
The goat milk has been especially nice as a change of pace from plain water, and the bone broth adds a savory boost that my dog seems to love.
Whether you’re looking for a way to make mealtime more exciting or just want to add a little something extra to your dog’s routine, these have been a really easy addition that my pup genuinely enjoys.
Once summer rolls around it becomes even more important to keep our pup’s hydrated.
Cooling Mats/Vests/Bandanas
There are several great options for cooling vests from Canada Pooch.
All for Paws also has a great cooling bandana option.
Doggie Pools
Sprinkler Toys
Dog Booties/Paw Balm
For those walkies on hot asphalt (always be aware of temperatures and hot weather advisories and aim to take your pup out either in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler), I recommend little booties or paw balm.
Canada Pooch carries some great bootie options and natural dog company has a great paw balm. There’s also this balm called Musher’s Secret Paw Wax that acts as a barrier to help protect your dog’s paws from the hot asphalt.
