Have you looked through IKEA’s recycled section? They have a buy back program for IKEA family members (which anyone can become a member for free, so why not?) where you can bring back selected items and they’ll give you your money back.
They then put those items in a section of their store for others to shop from at a very big discount. The other perk is that the furniture is already put together, you just have to wait around for the good stuff—and some of it is in better or worse condition than others.
I’ve been on the hunt for a nice cabinet we could build into our living room for extra storage, and a big boy bed for our little guy.
